BMI View: The Belarusian food and drink market will suffer from the country's worsening economic situation as Belarus is expected to slide into recession in 2015. Belarus Seeks To Diversify Its Meat Exports : According to reports in Spring 2015, Belarus plans to establish poultry and beef exports to China later in the year, as the country's meat industry suffers from a drop in supplies to its main market - Russia. Belarusian officials expect the country to ship livestock products to China amounting to USD200mn per quarter.

Peru, Belarus And Taiwan Ban Canadian Beef : In late February 2015, Peru, Belarus and Taiwan put temporary restrictions on beef imports from Canada, due to a bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) outbreak. Canada confirmed the case of BSE, which is also known as mad cow disease, in early February 2015. According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Canada has been classified as a controlled BSE risk country by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
